Traffic stop leads to two arrests on firearm, narcotics charges

A traffic stop on Saturday led to the arrest of two men on firearm and narcotics-related charges.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers conducted a vehicle enforcement stop and found that driver, 26-year-old Richard Martinez, displayed signs of impairment. In addition the passenger, 45-year-old Hector Carrera was found to be in possession of suspected narcotics.

When officers searched the vehicle, SKS assault rifle with two high capacity magazines.

Martinez and Carrera were booked into the Kern County Jail for firearm and narcotic related charges.
