VALLEJO, Calif. — This morning there are growing calls for a Vallejo police officer and the police chief to resign following an officer-involved shooting last month.
Bodycam video released by the Vallejo Police Department showing the moments an officer opened fire on alleged looter at a Walgreens. The officer is sitting in the back of a pickup truck when he opens fire from inside, shooting through the windshield, striking 22-year-old Sean Monterrosa who was pronounced dead at the scene.
You can hear the officer saying Monterrosa had a gun. Officers later confirmed that Monterrosa did not have a gun but was found with a hammer in his waistband. The department's chief also said
Monterrosa was in a half-kneeling position with his hand on his waistband.
The chief did not say if the officer had been disciplined or if he's still on patrol.
