No joke: KY dog, cat enter presidential race

RABBIT HASH, Ky. – This small Boone County community will host the presidential debate that may prove to be the watershed moment of the 2016 election Saturday.

That’s when Rabbit Hash Mayor Lucy Lou, a dog, will debate political newcomer Limberbutt McCubbins, a cat.

Lucy Lou was elected mayor of Rabbit Hash, an unincorporated community with just a few hundred residents, in 2008. Last September, she – or a human close to her – announced she was running for president on a platform that includes term limits for Rabbit Hash and Congress, equal kibble for all candidates and other issues.

Limberbutt McCubbins lives with a high school student in Louisville. His platform includes the creation of an Affordable Cat Act to help with costs of spaying/neutering, legalizing catnip and space exploration, among other issues.

The debate will start at about 3 p.m. “in the barn,” according to a Facebook event page. There will be limited audience seating available.
