BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — CSU Bakersfield Men's Basketball coach Rod Barnes is ending his tenure with the university after 14 years with the Roadrunners.

During his tenure, Barnes led the Runners to the postseason four times, including three appearances over four years.

CSUB President Vernon B. Harper Jr. writing in a statement thanking Barnes for his time as Head Coach and for "his enthusiasm for our teams and student-athletes..."

Barnes coached the Roadrunners to their best NCAA Division I record at 24-9, winning the Western Athletic Conference championship, being named the Don Haskins Coach of the year, and guiding them to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Acting Director of Athletics Dr. Sarah Tuohy announces that Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Mike Scott will take the helm and serve as Acting Head Coach.

CSU Bakersfield will conduct a search for its next head coach in the meantime.
