If you have a love for essential oils, squishy things, a touch of glitter, and being calm - then you'll adore this!
It's a home-made anti-stress ball that appeals to the senses of sight, touch and smell. The DIY putty combines the soothing smell of lavender with the calming effect of squeezing something soft…with some glitter thrown in for good measure. And the best part is - you probably have almost everything you need for this putty right in your pantry already!
Here's what you’ll need:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of salt
- 3 tbsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tbsp. oil
- 1/2 cup of boiling water
- 10 to 20 drops of lavender essential oil
- Purple food coloring (or another color that calms you)
- Glitter (optional)
Mix the first six ingredients in a bowl, then add the food coloring and as much glitter as your heart desires. Once cool enough, use your hands to finish combing it all together and voila! You have a fantastic-smelling, super squishy, perfectly pretty squeeze ball. There really is something therapeutic about it! And if you're wondering – no, the glitter does not come off on your hands, and there is just a mild lavender scent left behind.
A bonus to this pretty putty? Once you've used it to squeeze out all of your stress - give it to your kids! Mine used it like playdough to create all sorts of things, and if you give it to them during evening downtime, the calming effect of the lavender might even help make bedtime a little easier.
