Monday, June 11 is a nationwide event focused to get more animals adopted out of animal shelters. Kern County Animal Services was planning their own "Just One Day" event in Bakersfield, offering reduced adoption fees of $11, for 11 hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. But, now you can take home a pet for no cost.
A donation from North Bakersfield Toyota and Bill Wright Toyota is covering all adoption fees for animals adopted through the end of the day Monday. That means you can make a pet part of your family for no cost.
In a press release, Nick Cullen, Director of Kern County Animal Services said, "our vision of a No Kill Kern County will not happen without community support, and what we are experiencing these last 5 years is a tremendous amount of that support."
The sponsorship includes all three Kern County Animal Shelter.
The three KCAS shelters are at:
Bakersfield Shelter: 3951 Fruitvale Avenue
Mojave Shelter: 923 Poole Street
Lake Isabella Shelter: 14891 Hwy 178
In addition, to the pet adoptions, Joel Rockey, a Navy veteran, is launching "22 in 22," a period of 22 days when he rescues at least one dog every day from a shelter then donates it to a veteran for free.
