One person is dead and two others are recovering following multiple stabbings that led to a brief lockdown of the Memorial Hospital emergency room Sunday night.
According to Bakersfield Police, at about 9:20 last night, officers responded to Memorial Hospital for what appeared to be a love triangle argument that turned into a woman saying she was hit by a car and stabbed in the area of 3900 Union Avenue.
A second person involved in that incident later showed up to Memorial also with stab wounds.
A short time later, a man showed up at the Memorial E.R. with stab wounds. A woman with him said the man was stabbed at a Burger King on Union Avenue.
After further investigation, police say they found the woman was lying and that the man was stabbed at a home on Water Street in Northeast Bakersfield. Police say that stabbing might have stemmed from a family argument.
The man later died at Memorial.
Police say the three people showing up at the Memorial E.R. around the same time prompted the lockdown. Officials weren't sure if there was someone stabbing the victims on the premises. The lockdown has since been lifted.
KCSO has taken over the investigation involving the man who was killed after being stabbed on Water Street.
BPD is investigating the incident involving multiple stabbing victims on Union Avenue.
