SAN DIEGO - A deadly shooting involving at least four people, including a San Diego police officer, was reported in City Heights neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. on Marlborough Avenue between University Avenue and Wightman Street, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Lee Swanson.

San Diego Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman confirmed Sunday night that an officer was involved in the shooting, but she would not provide any other details.

At least one person was reported dead, two others suffered major trauma and another had minor injuries, according to Swanson.

Homicide detectives were called to investigate.
