Officials with the Bakersfield Fire Department says one firefighter was injured and eight people were displaced in a structure fire on the 1200 block of Oregon Street early Sunday morning.
Bakersfield Fire officials say they responded a reinforced alarm and a second alarm to a reported structure fire.
Officials added the first arriving company officer upgraded the response to a second alarm due to the large amount of fire.
BFD Engine and Truck companies rapidly deployed multiple hose lines to the interior of the structure where the ceilings where pulled to expose the seat of the attic fire in the main structure. Additional hose lines were deployed to protect the exposure.
Officials said the course of the interior fire fight, a firefighter was briefly trapped after a roof collapse.
BFD Truck Company 1 was able to quickly extricate the firefighter which sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
BFD Arson Investigators were dispatched to the scene in order to determine origin and cause of the fire.
It was determined that the fire was accidental due to an electrical short in one of the vehicles located in the garage.
No other injuries were reported
