One person is dead after a hit and run in northeast Bakersfield early Friday morning.
According to Bakersfield Police, a man was hit in the 1600 block of Columbus Street near Lowe's just before 3 a.m.
BPD said a car was driving south on Cornell Street when it failed to make a full turn onto Columbus Street. The car then rolled over the curb hitting one man.
The victim was taken to a local area hospital where he died.
Later Friday, Coroner officials identified the man as 58-year-old Robert Moreno.
According to a family member, the victim was a father walking his son to work. The family member said the father walks his son often, because he "doesn't trust the area". BPD did confirm these accounts.
Luckily, the victims' son was not injured.
BPD is describing the car involved in the crash as a dark colored sedan.
Roadways were reopened just after 7:30 a.m.
