BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The coroner has confirmed that a 1-year-old boy drowned after falling in a pool on Thursday.

Deputies arrived at the scene just after 5 p.m. east of Bakersfield near 900 Vineland Road where Kern County Fire and Hall Ambulance were performing CPR.

The child was taken to Kern Medical where he was pronounced deceased.

The Kern County coroner says a postmortem examination was conducted and the cause of death was a drowning and the manner was an accident.
