11 arrested during crackdown on vehicle thefts in Kern County

Nearly a dozen people are behind bars after a crackdown on vehicle thefts in Kern County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force conducted undercover late night operations the week of Jan. 6.

Patrolling areas in Bakersfield and Shafter, 11 people were arrested and 12 vehicles were recovered. Two complaints will be filed for auto theft and forgery charges.

According to the CHP, photo albums, awards and heirlooms belonging to late former Kern County Sheriff Charlie Dodge were recovered. An antique Bakersfield Police Department lieutenant badge was also recovered.
