An 11-month-old child has passed away after being left in a vehicle for an hour.

Fresno police were called to an apartment complex Tuesday afternoon after a report of a non-responsive 11 month old boy left in a vehicle.

Officers found the child near the parking lot outside the apartments where others were attempting CPR. The child was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead at 2:49 p.m.

The child’s grandmother was responsible for watching the child. She was taken to CRMC due to her mental state following the incident.

Neighbors told KFSN-TV in Fresno they believe this was an accident.

It is unknown why she left the child in the car with the windows rolled up. Child Abuse Unit detectives are investigating.
