13th Annual American Kennel Club hosts Responsible Dog Ownership Day in Bakersfield

The American Kennel Club is once again sponsoring "AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day," and announced hundred of events to be held nationwide including one in Bakersfield. 
 
Anderson Acres and the City of Bakersfield will be hosting "Dog Day at the Park" at Central Park at Mill Creek Saturday October 7th from 9am to noon.
 
The goal of the event is to educate first-time owners about the responsibilities of dog ownership and to help current owners enhance their relationships with their dogs.
 
This year's event is hosted by Responsible Dog Owners of Kern County.
 
Activities will include AKC Canine Good Citizen tests, obedience and rally, demonstrations,  no cost/low cost micro-chipping  & vaccinations, adoptions, licensing (city & county), spay/neuter vouchers, child safety around dogs, disaster preparedness for your pets, Country Canines, Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. and the very popular Halloween costume contest at 11a.m..
 
Everyone is encouraged to attend this free event. Dog must be on leashes.
