A 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday night after deputies said he stole a car and led them in a pursuit.
At about 10:30 p.m. Kern County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received reports of a carjacking that had just occurred.
Deputies said that the victim reported three suspects were in a van and one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects took the victim’s keys and fled in the victim’s Honda.
When deputies arrived, they located the van unoccupied near the area of Lake Street and Vale Street.
At about 11:50 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Lamont substation located the stolen Honda near the area of Habecker Road and Segrue Road. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the stolen Honda lead deputies on a short vehicle pursuit.
Officials said that the 15-year-old driver crashed into a parked car and that's when two of the three suspects jumped out of the car and took off.
The driver, a 15-year-old male, was caught and arrested. Ammunition was found inside the stolen vehicle; no weapon was recovered. Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110.
