BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 19-year-old victim has been identified after a deadly assault in East Bakersfield.

According to BPD, 19-year-old Louie Arturo Hernandez of Bakersfield was assaulted by another person in the 800 block of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in East Bakersfield around 2:25 p.m. on January 8. BPD says that fire and medical personnel performed all life-saving measures, however Hernandez died on-scene around 2:54 p.m.

BPD is investigating Hernandez's death as a homicide.
