The Bakersfield Police were out in full force on Saturday night to reduce the numbers of drunk and buzzed drivers on the road with a DUI checkpoint.
Officials conducted the checkpoint on the 8600 block of Hageman Road between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
BPD said that 776 drivers were screened by officers and 3 drivers were detained to be further evaluated to determine their sobriety influence level.
Two people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and one person arrested for a DUI had a previous DUI arrest.
11 drivers were cited for no driver’s license or driving on a suspended license.
BPD said the funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Section by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
They encourage the public to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
