Friday morning the Kern County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out what caused a wooden play structure to collapse leading to the death of a two-year-old in Inyokern.
According to KCSO, the child was playing in a wooden makeshift play structure Wednesday when it collapsed, crushing the boy and pinning him to the ground.
The child, identified as Matthew Donaldson, was taken to a hospital in Ridgecrest then transported to Loma Linda in San Bernardino where they were later pronounced dead.
He died of blunt head trauma and his death was ruled an accident, according to the coroner's release.
