206 warrants cleared during BPD event

The Bakersfield Police Department’s Fugitive/Warrant Detail held three “Clear Your Warrant Day” events at various parks throughout the City of Bakersfield between September 17 and September 23, 2015.

The events were held to give individuals with non-violent citable warrants the opportunity to receive a citation with a new court date. Our aim was to encourage those with outstanding warrants to “clear them up” without fear of being arrested and booked into jail. The events were held at Wayside Park, Patriots Park, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

The following are the results from the three day event:

  • 350 citizens screened
  • 2 felony warrants cleared
  • 204 misdemeanor warrants cleared
  • 13 DMV notices served

Out of the 350 citizens contacted seven were found to have warrants that required booking due to the nature of the offense. The remaining warrants were cleared with a citation.

The Bakersfield Police Department would like to remind the public that with a misdemeanor non-violent warrant can come to the Bakersfield Police Department during normal business hours to be given a citation with a new court date.
