BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — 23ABC helped participate in special police academy training to educate new trainees on their role in interactions with the community.

"Today, or rather this week we are working on learning domain three for our post certification, which is policing in the community. And what's been really great about it so far we all come in having read the post manual and what's great is that the Bakersfield Police Department has taken that above and beyond. They brought in all these organizations from all over this community, to kind of show us how we are a part of Bakersfield," said Crystal Hoffmann, a police officer trainee with the Bakersfield Police Department.

23ABC was one of the organizations brought in by Bakersfield Police to help train potential future officers. Evening anchor Jessica Harrington was there leading a lesson on the relationship between police and the media.
