BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — 23ABC is creating a challenge to help raise money for the Kern County Cancer Fund.

Evening Anchor Jessica Harrington has committed to take part in the Kern Cancer Run/Walk, but instead of just participating, we've created a challenge that adds more miles to the run and the chance to see some of the other anchors take part.

The more money raised, the more miles Jessica has to run and the more anchors participate.

Here's the breakdown:

$100 - 4 miles

$250 - 6 miles and Meterologist Brandon Michaels will walk/run 1 mile

$500 - 8 miles

$700 - 10 miles and Morning Anchor Danielle Kernkamp will walk/run 1 mile

$1,000 - Half Marathon

$1,500 - 16 miles and Chief Meterologist Elaina Rusk will walk/run 1 mile

$2,000 - 20 miles

$2,500 - 23 miles

$5,000 - Marathon and Morning Anchor Mike Hart will walk/run 1 mile

Many local non-profits, including the Kern County Cancer Fund, have struggled to raise money because of COVID-19 safety measures.
