27-year-old woman arrested for owning chop shop, receiving stolen property

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, 27-year-old Crista Skaggs was arrested on Friday, February 17, 2017, and charged with owning a chop shop and receiving stolen property.

Early Friday, BPD officers took an auto theft report, and the vehicle was located later that day stripped of numerous parts.

A deputy with the Kern County Sheriff's Office heard the call and was aware of a similar previous case, where he arrested subjects from a residence near where the vehicle was stripped for auto theft related crimes. The deputy responded to the address he was familiar with and detained several people. Parts from the vehicle that was reported stolen were found at the address.

Officers from BPD were notified and confirmed that the parts in the residence were from the stolen vehicle.

Crista Skaggs was arrested for receiving stolen property and owning a chop shop.
