3 arrested, Rafer Johnson School off lockdown

A chase between Bakersfield Police Department officers and three suspects put Rafer Johnson Children's Center on lockdown.

At about 11:15 a.m., Bakersfield Police Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 8th Street and P Street.

All three occupants ran from the vehicle but were later located during a yard to yard search. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded .380 handgun was found.

Officers arrested Mario Colchado (20), Jesus Cornejo (19) and Ricardo Alatorre (18) for weapons charges, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang. As a precaution, Rafer Johnson School was placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes.
