TEHACHAPI, Calif. — A 32-year-old female bicyclist was killed after colliding with a pickup truck on Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, January 28 at Comanche Point Road and Jacks Hill Road. According to CHP, a 32-year-old woman from Bakersfield was riding her Trek bicycle southbound on Jacks Hill Road, north of Comanche Point Road, approaching a posted stop sign at the intersection. CHP says a 47-year-old man from Tehachapi was driving a Ford F-250 eastbound on Comanche Point Road, west of Jacks Hill Road, also approaching the intersection. CHP says for reasons still under investigation, the bicyclist collided with the Ford F-250. The woman was ejected off of the bicycle and sustained fatal injuries.

CHP says it appears the woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver, as well as a 47-year-old female passenger from Tehachapi, were not injured in the crash.

CHP says driver impairment is not suspected.
