BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner has ruled that a 4-month-old boy, who died in September, was smothered to death. KCSO is now investigating his death as a homicide.
According to KCSO, 4-month-old Landon Helmick was found unresponsive on September 30, 2018 in the 1900 block of South J Street in South Bakersfield. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, where he died.
A postmortem examination was conducted by the Kern County Coroner. The Kern County Coroner has ruled that the cause of death was smothering and the manner was homicide.
KCSO says a person of interest has been identified and interviewed, but no arrests have been made.
