Five people have been hospitalized and an entire family displaced following an early morning fire Tuesday.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, a home in Derby Acres, in western Kern County, went up in flames just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews initially were looking for a woman, who was reported missing, during the blaze. She was later found in a separate travel trailer behind the home.

Four children were taken to San Joaquin Community Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. A man was also taken to San Joaquin to be treated for significant burns.

KCFD officials say there was no smoke alarm in the home.
