The California Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who hit a man crossing the street and then took off.
Officials said on Friday night around 10:30 p.m. a vehicle headed eastbound on Niles St. hit a 60-year-old man who was crossing the street, in the crosswalk, near Virginia St.
Following the collision, the driver left the scene.
The man sustained major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical where he later died.
It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle was injured in the collision.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
