Kern County Public Health shut down the 7-11 on Olive Drive Friday after finding cockroaches and rats among other health violations.

During a routine inspection, inspectors found lots live and dead cockroaches. Two large holes that appeared to be created by rats and rat droppings were found in the store.

There were also open packages of cocoa and sugar mixes, and open coffee drinks on top of counter-top freezer in the food service area.

The environmental health permit will be suspended and a notice of closure will be posted until the environmental health permit is reinstated.
