UPDATE:

According to the Kern County coroner a postmortem examination was performed and True's cause of death is a stab wound to the chest and the manner is homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY:
The Kern County Coroner's Office says an 83-year-old man who was assaulted earlier this month died about a week after the assault.

Ronald Lynn True was assaulted on July 16 on Clark Avenue, just off South H Street and Wilson Road.

The coroner's office says True died Tuesday.
