911 CALL: Missing Ridgecrest woman call for help

Posted

Police have released the 911 phone call of a woman who was missing in her car for five days last month.

The desperate phone call was made by Barbara McPheron back in October. She was found five days later in her Hummer after a hiker came across the wreckage. The San Bernardino Fire Department rescued her and rushed her to the hospital.

In the 911 call you can hear the dispatcher asking for McPheron's location, but she appears confused and tells the operator that she is near Ridgecrest.

McPheron was actually found about an hour and a half away from where she thought she was, nearly 100 feet down an embankment.

She was alive at the time of her rescue, but has since died from her injuries. 23ABC spoke to the woman's nephew when she was found and he said he had no idea how she ended up so far from her home in Ridgecrest.

Police think McPheron may have died from pneumonia but the San Bernardino Coroner's Office say they haven't determined an official cause of death.
