You have a chance to participate in the 9th Annual Walk and Run for Sickle Cell Disease.

The 5-k and 10-k will be held this Saturday, September 16 at the Park at Riverwalk. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. but arrivals start at 6:30 that morning. The race will be timed by the Bakersfield Track Club.

There is a $25 fee to join before Wednesday and will cost $35 from then until the day of the walk.

Proceeds support the Hina Patel Foundation which offers programs to fund Sickle Cell research and education, while also directly helping local families and patients.
