Pamela Kiger has been living with Lupus since 2005. This disease has changed her life forever. The chronic pain she deals with every day has stopped her from working, seeing friends, and even attending milestones in her children's lives.
Pamela found hope in the daith piercing. She learned it could help relieve pressure and pain in her head and neck. Bakersfield local Shawn Curtsinger performs this piercing at his shop "Piercing by Shawn." 23ABC's Jada Montemarano got a behind-the-scenes look into this piercing that could change Pamela's life forever.
This only takes a minute to perform. Pamela said she felt less pressure instantly. Jada met with her 10 days later to see if there was further progress. She said she has less pressure and pain in her head and neck. Pamela hopes as time goes on she will no longer need her pain medication.
Shawn feels a sense of happiness knowing that he can possibly take away someone's pain. He says he has about a 90% success rate with his daith piercings.
