BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials arrest a man and a woman Sunday afternoon for a shooting that injured two people in Northwest Bakersfield Saturday evening.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Winter Hooper and 33-year-old Franklin Wellskluth were arrested at a Motel 6 near Easton Drive and California Avenue, shortly before 1 p.m.

KCSO said the pair allegedly walked up to a vehicle in the Vagabond Inn parking lot Saturday, before Wellskluth opened fire at two people inside the car.

A man inside the vehicle was shot in the leg and a female passenger was struck from glass that shattered.

Hooper and Wellskluth were booked for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism and conspiracy, KCSO confirms.
