Man killed following a collision on Highway 99 identified

UPDATE: The man who died following an accident on Highway 99 has been identified. According to the California Highway Patrol, Tyler Wayne Sherwood was driving a vehicle Friday night when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

According to the CHP the call came in around 8:20 p.m. Friday night for a solo vehicle into trees on northbound Highway 99 off of White Lane. The trees caught on fire following the collision.

It is reported the vehicle was swerving before it crashed.

Sherwood was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The crash is under investigation and it is not known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
