BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One man died after suffering major injuries during a shooting at an apartment complex in North Bakersfield Saturday night.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting near Q and 40th streets at about 8:08 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located a man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot.

He was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, where he later died. On Tuesday, the Kern County Coroner's Office identified the man as 35-year-old Willie Christer Jr.
