Jerry Hedges was set to be the second veteran featured in the new series "A Veteran's Voice." Monday morning, 23ABC learned he had passed away Sunday evening, so the series launched early to honor the man who loved to make people smile.
Hedges worked at CALM as a train conductor for six years. He also volunteered his time to work on the landscaping around the train tracks, designing and installing multiple plots of plants throughout the area.
He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, spending a year in Korea during that time.
After leaving the military, he worked as an electrician.
He was 86 years old when passed away.
