BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and to bring awareness to early detection, Adventist Health Bakersfield is hosting free cervical caner screenings this Saturday.
The screenings include a Pap and HPV test and HPV vaccination. It's happening at the Mercado Latino from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to the American Cancer Society, cervical cancer is a highly preventable and treatable cancer. It tends to occur in midlife, and is most frequently diagnosed between the ages of 34 and 44.
This is an event made possible thanks to the great collaboration of several local health organizations.
