Aera Energy is teaming with GlassPoint Solar to build California's largest solar energy project.

The company made the announcement Wednesday.

Aera is one of the state's largest oil and gas producers. GlassPoint creates solar energy for the oil and gas industries. 

The project will be built at the Belridge oil field, west of Bakersfield. 

The companies say the project will help save more than 376,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. 

The project is also expected to create hundreds of jobs in California in the oil, gas and solar industries. 

The project is expected to break ground in 2019.
