Aeropostale, the popular clothing store in malls that markets teen apparel, is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will close some of its stores.

The company will close 113 of its 739 U.S. stores and all 40 of its stores in Canada. Going-out-of-business sales at those U.S. stores will begin this weekend.

Aeropostale was once worth almost $2.6 billion. Now it is worth around $2 million.

A company employee told 23ABC that the Aeropostale store in the Valley Plaza Mall is not affected and will remain open.

Several other California stores will be closed. A list of the closures can be found here
