According to the Taft Midway Driller, all students attending Taft City schools will be able to get free breakfast and lunches due to a change in the districts policy for National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs for the 2018-2019 school year.
The article states that District Superintendent Julie Graves said that because of the amount of students that qualify for free or reduced meals in the district, it meets standards to qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision, which according to the article allows schools districts located in low-income areas to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students.
Because the entire district now qualifies for free and reduced lunches, there are no more applications needed from families to get the free meals according to Taft Midway Driller.
