El Nino can be credited with helping to re-open Kern County's only ski resort.

23ABC has learned that Alta Sierra Ski Resort will open on Friday, January 15th after officials reported more than 10 inches of snow overnight.
That is on top of an 18 inch base and officials say that number could rise.
The resort has been shuttered for the past few years because of a lack of snow.
