"Award Banquet for Unity" is an award program honoring those individuals and organizations who are doing selfless work serving their community.
Five different ethnicities will be represented promoting racial unity.
The theme of the event is Bakersfield; A Model City of True Love.
Manuel Cantu Jr., Mayor of the City of McFarland, Cathy Prout, Mayor of Shafter, Liz Morris mayor of Delano, and Vice mayor Eddie B. Thomas of Ridgecrest, are attending.
The awardees will be receiving certificates from representatives from the offices of Congressman Kevin McCathy, Congressman David Valadao, State Senator Jean Fuller, State Senator Andy Vidak, Assembly Member Rudy Salas, Assembly Member Vince Fong, the Kern County Board of Supervisors, and of course the city of Bakersfield.
Mayor Karen Goh will present the awards and former Mayor Harvey Hall will deliver the keynote address.
This ceremony is on Saturday, September 30th from 3:00p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Bakersfield Community House on R Street.
