LOS ANGELES, Calif. — An explosion in Downtown Los Angeles injures several LAFD firefighters Saturday evening, sparking multiple buildings on fire in the area.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, 11 firefighters were injured in the incident near East 3rd and San Pedro streets.
Two firefighters initially were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but are now listed in critical condition, according to officials. Both are expected to survive. Another firefighter is also in critical condition.
Eight other firefighters suffered first to third degree burns.
According to LAFD, the explosion occurred at a butane honey-oil business. Over 230 LA County firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
