Annual holiday cottage preparations begin for holiday season

Posted

For the past 30 years the holiday cottage has been making dreams come true for children in the foster care system, and this year will be no different.

The Kern County Department of Human Services has established this years Holiday Cottage at 2765 Calloway Dr. Suite #104, a location within the Rosedale Village Shopping Center.

The preparations for the holiday cottage took place today, Monday November 06, 2017. This year, Home Depot and IKEA volunteered to be the decorating partners for the cottage. Some employees from the four Home Depot locations in Bakersfield and one location from Tehachapi woke up early to begin building this years display of the Holiday Cottage.

On November 27, 2017 the Holiday Cottage will officially open its doors for children's wishes to start becoming reality. The process of getting a gift to a child is simple, anyone who would like to donate to the children can go into the cottage, pick a sheet of paper from the display wall with a child's name and gift wish on it. After that, all that has to be done is buying and dropping the gift off back at the holiday cottage where it will then be given to the corresponding child.

This year, the holiday cottage will be open from November 27, 2017 to December 11, 2017. It will be open everyday between then from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
