The annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is happening this Saturday.

This year marks the 26th year of the nationwide event put on by the National Association of Letter Carriers. Held every second Saturday in May, Stamp Out Hunger is the country's largest single day food drive.

Leave your nonperishable food items outside by your mailbox and they'll be picked up by U.S. Postal Service workers.

According to Stamp Out Hunger's Facebook page, the most needed items are:

- Canned fruits and vegetables

- Peanut butter

- Canned tuna and chicken

- Dry pasta

- Boxed macaroni and cheese

- Canned soup

Expired food or pet food is not accepted.

If you want to leave out food to be picked up, set it outside well before your letter carrier's normal pickup time and the earlier, the better. The NALC says a good rule of thumb is 9 a.m.
