A fire broke out at the Golden Hills apartment complex on the 21200 block of Madre Street Monday night.

Flames had filled half of one apartment unit by the time crews arrived. No other apartment units were damaged.

No one was injured. The apartment where the fire started was vacant and the cause is suspicious, according to Kern County Fire.
