Traffic in the area of E. California Avenue and Martin Luther King is being shut down following an apartment fire early Friday morning. 

A fire was reported just after 3 a.m. in the 1300 block of E. California Avenue.

Bakersfield and Kern County firefighters were on scene battling the blaze, which started in a downstairs apartment unit then spread upstairs. Both units were vacant. 

At least two people were displaced from the blaze. 

No word on what caused the blaze.
