Armed gang member arrested by Bakersfield Police Department in Southeast Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department arrested an armed gang member in a stolen vehicle in Southeast Bakersfield Sunday evening.

At about 4 p.m., BPD was dispatched to East Brundage Lane and Cottonwood Road for a stolen vehicle, according to a BPD press release.

Officials say the vehicle fled prior to officer arriving, but was located shortly after in the 1500 block of Lotus Lane.

According to the release, Andrew Chavez fled on foot, but was arrested by officers shortly after.

Chavez was booked into the Kern County jail for possession of a firearm and gang charges, according to the release.
