(UPDATE 6/26/18 9:00 a.m.): The Army family, who's moving truck and car were stolen over the weekend, now say their belongings have been recovered by Bakersfield Police.
Shanna Sokolosky says most of their items were recovered, and their car was still on a trailer attached to the truck. Shanna says she believes it was the Bakersfield community that lead to the truck being returned safe and sound. Her husband John is now on his way back to Bakersfield to collect their things and take them to their new home in D.C.
Over the weekend John and Shanna Sokolosky reached out to 23ABC for help after their 26 ft Penske moving truck and Ford Escape were stolen early Saturday morning.
John is a major in the Army. His family were stationed in Monterey before receiving orders to Washington D.C. His wife Shanna is 33 weeks pregnant with the couple's 3rd child. Late last week she and their two childrew flew ahead of John to D.C due to her pregnancy.
John was driving his family's belonging across country and stopped at the Holiday Inn & Suites off Buck Owens Blvd. Friday night. Early Saturday morning, the moving truck and family's Ford Escape were gone.
Bakersfield Police confirmed with 23ABC that hotel surveillance footage shows two to four adult male suspects stealing the moving truck and Escape around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
The investigation remains on going. If you have any information, you are asked to call 327-7111.
