During the investigation, officers identified a suspect and learned he was in the parking lot of the Fastrip convenience store around 10:47 p.m. Officers pursued the suspect, and the suspect fled on foot.

With the assistance of the Kern County Sheriff's Department, a 15-year-old male suspect was captured. A loaded firearm and undetermined amount of money was recovered from the suspect. He was then transported to the Kern County Juvenile Detention Center for processing.
