Arvin police arrest 15-year-old boy involved in multiple armed robberies

On Thursday, February 16, 2017, Arvin police officers responded to five armed robberies in the city.

The first robbery, at Arvin Dollar Mart on Bear Mountain Boulevard, was reported at 4:04 p.m. As the officers were investigating this crime, another robbery was reported at Canton's Chinese Restaurant on Bear Mountain Boulevard.

At 7:45 p.m., a third robbery was reported at Zapateria Shoe Store on Bear Mountain Boulevard. While investigating this robbery, another robbery was reported at Alshaif Market on Haven Drive. The final robbery was reported at Ismali Market on Langford Avenue.

During the investigation, officers identified a suspect and learned he was in the parking lot of the Fastrip convenience store around 10:47 p.m. Officers pursued the suspect, and the suspect fled on foot.

With the assistance of the Kern County Sheriff's Department, a 15-year-old male suspect was captured. A loaded firearm and undetermined amount of money was recovered from the suspect. He was then transported to the Kern County Juvenile Detention Center for processing.

The case is still under investigation and officers are determining whether additional suspects were involved. Officers believe the suspect is responsible for several robberies that occurred last week in the city of Arvin.
